How was the tournament arranged?
The current reining Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Mpumalanga, South African Student’ Congress (SASCO) organized a top-eight (8) tournament that commenced on the 15th of August 2025 at 2:30pm. Cecil S Complex happened to engage with other seven teams (i.e., JB Student Village, BSC Young Boys, Maunos, Luhambo FC, Amajita FC, Karino Sporting FC and Anonymous FC).
How was the feel of the tournament and the players’ behavior?
The tournament feel was prestigious, challenging and exciting at once. Our team enjoyed the pleasure of outgoing and playing on our school’s sport field, contesting against our campus friends. There were no major disputes, though there were queries on the referee’s decisions, still players behaved collectively and moral wise. In essence, we had the fortune to be watched by our fellow res mates as they became our biggest fans providing moral support.
What was the impact of the tournament on the team’s morale?
The soccer tournament boosted our team's morale by increasing confidence through successes and victories, strengthening camaraderie and communication through shared experiences and goals, providing opportunities for growth and development in a high-stakes environment, and fostering a sense of shared purpose and achievement that encourages team unity and motivation. As though we had lost in the semi-finals, team spirit was rather built and raised eager to beat the team we lost to.
What were the scores from match one until the final game?
The first match was JB Student Village against BSC Young Boys and JB pulled the win in penalties.
Second game, Cecil S Complex played against Maunos, we always beat this one. We drew with a score of 0-0 and concluded in penalties, where our teammate Andile Vilane (Tshepo) saved a penalty giving us a win.

Unfortunately, we could not stay to watch other teams play because of the time. In conclusion, we played our semi-final on the 21 of August and we terribly lost by a score of 2:0 against the team Amajita FC.
Match after played Karino Sporting FC against JB Res, Karino won in penalties too. Final Match, played by Amajita FC beat Karino in a score of 3:0. Amajita FC were celebrated with a trophy and medals.
