Candle lighting Ceremony

Purpose
The ceremony was held to honor the memory of individuals who lost their lives to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), to raise awareness, and to strengthen community solidarity in the fight against GBV.

Event Highlights
Opening Remarks: Miss Aphiwe Mdlovu (RSA) welcomed the students and told the purpose of the event.
Tributes/Speeches: Our first speaker Miss Karabo Nkabinde delivered a speech and a tribute to all victims and survivors of GBV. Miss Ayanda Vundla was our 2nd speaker, she delivered a poetic tribute about people affected by GBV and those who sadly lost their lives.
Candle lighting Ritual: With the help of other RSAs we distributed candles and held a candlelight ritual where we had a moment of silence to honor all those who lost their lives due to GBV.
Closing: Miss Aphiwe Mdlovu thanked all students for their attendance and participation, then Miss Innocent Sifundza closed off with a prayer.
